The Memorial Service

September 15, 2007

Tonight was the memorial service and it was beautiful. It was also incredibly sad. Our hearts are breaking, and I know yours are too. Hope, Mikey, Onida and Jadin will forever be missed. On August 16th as they were traveling down I-20 they were in an automobile accident...It's amazing how in a split second our lives are changed forever.

Obituaries
Hope Hurley Keldie was born September 23, 1958. She was owner of TML Painting of Fayetteville. I asked her what TML stood for she laughed, and said, "Trying to Make a Living." She was a very creative and talented woman. She was a baker, painter, and home maker. She loved animals and nature. She is survived by her mother Florence Selby of Augusta. Her daughter, Niki (Steven) Monk of Fayetteville, grandchildren Kailey and Shane Monk of Fayetteville, her brother Mike (Molly) Hurley of Molena.

Michael Miller was born March 28, 1962. He was also a painter and he loved music, especially the guitar. He was teaching Onida how to play the guitar. He is survived by his mother Patricia Miller of Griffin, and brothers, Matthew, Mark and Joey Miller.

Onida Hope Wabindato Cooper was born December 27, 1989 and was a student at Fayette County High School. Onida was a talented writer, and a gifted poet. She was excited and blissfully happy becoming a new mom. She is survived by her husband, Richard Cooper, sister Niki (Steven) Monk, niece and nephew Kailey and Shane Monk, and father, Martin Wabindato of Michigan.

Jadin Aaron Cooper was born June 15, 2007 and he loved to be cuddled and held and sang to. He is survived by his father, Richard Cooper of Fayetteville, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Cooper of Fayetteville.

"Held" by Natalie Grant
Two months is too little.
They let him go.
They had no sudden healing.
To think that providence would
Take a child from his mother while she prays
Is appalling.

Who told us we’d be rescued?
What has changed and why should we be saved from nightmares?
We’re asking why this happens
To us who have died to live?
It’s unfair.

Chorus:
This is what it means to be held.
How it feels when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive.
This is what it is to be loved.
And to know that the promise was
When everything fell we’d be held.

This hand is bitterness.
We want to taste it, let the hatred numb our sorrow.
The wise hands opens slowly to lillys of the valley and tomorrow.

(Chorus)
This is what it means to be held.
How it feels when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive.
This is what it is to be loved.
And to know that the promise was
When everything fell we’d be held.

Bridge:
If hope is born of suffering.
If this is only the beginning.
Can we not wait for one hour watching for our Savior?

(Chorus)
This is what it means to be held.
How it feels when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive.
This is what it is to be loved.
And to know that the promise was
When everything fell we’d be held.

"Homesick" by MercyMe
You're in a better place, I've heard a thousand times
And at least a thousand times I've rejoiced for you
But the reason why I'm broken, the reason why I cry
Is how long must I wait to be with you

I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now

Help me Lord cause I don't understand your ways
The reason why I wonder if I'll ever know
But, even if you showed me, the hurt would be the same
Cause I'm still here so far away from home

I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now

In Christ, there are no goodbye
And in Christ, there is no end
So I'll hold onto Jesus with all that I have
To see you again
To see you again

And I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
Won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
Won't you give me strength to make it through somehow

I've never been more homesick than now

You will always be missed;
You are in God's arms now.

You will always be loved;
You are in God's arms now.

You will always be taken care of;
You are in God's arms now.

You will always be in our hearts;
You are in God's arms now.

You will always be in our prayers;
You are in God's arms now.

You will always be in our minds;
You are in God's arms now.

You will always be with us in spirit;
You are in God's arms now.

Rejoice in His name and in His glory.

Give Him a hug, and give Him a kiss.

You are with The Maker and The Almighty.

You are with God, the Father.

Rejoice, Rejoice... you will no longer be suffering here on earth.

Rejoice, Rejoice... you will forever be giving praise to His name.

May you all rest in peace with those who have gone before.

Irish blessing:
Leaba imeasc na naomh go raibh acu
agus ag an chlann mac is iníon atá leo.

Translated as:
May they rest in the company of the saints,
and their sons and daughters with them.
